Man, last nights meeting was, in my opinion, the best one we’ve ever had. Our night consisted of watching our old application videos that we all made to get into project kenya. They were hilarious! It was shocking to see how much each and every one of us has changed, and to see what has stayed the same. It was almost an emotional night as well for each of us. This is the last project kenya meeting that we will have before our big trip, which is crazy. Its been a long year, and lots of work, but we have finally made it and it was awesome to celebrate that last night. Our goal of 170, 000 at one point seemed unreachable, and impossible. It was frustrating and at times discouraging. But, in the long run, we have made an incredible mark on the community of Sarnia by reaching this goal, and we begin our 8 day countdown.
Almost There!
It’s hard to believe that 10 months ago we embarked on a journey, not knowing what it was going to consist of. I remember always hearing about how we need to fundraise, fundraise, fundraise.Today was the first day that I heard that we were actually above our goal. I was so thrilled to hear this news. We are at about $154,000 and need to raise $170,000. It’s a great feeling to know that we are almost there.
More like family
Over the past year, I have grown so close to this team, I have noticed that I would rather spend an evening with my fellow PK family than my maternal family. It’s not something I’m very proud to say, but it’s true.
These youth and even the leadership team, have affected my my life more than anyone or anything thus far. I just can’t think of any proper way I can thank them, and that bothers me. I feel like they help me out so much yet I fail on my part to return the favour.
The true exposé on my feelings…….
I’m pretty pumped up….yep….it’s realy exciting and stuff…sooo….yah…now I’m hungry.
Obviously I was joking….about being hungry…but the feeling I have about our upcoming trip are almost undescribable. It’s a mixture of excitment beyond imagine to be going to a whole new country with a completly different culture and ways and a little bit of fear because I have never been on a plane before at all, let alone a 30 hour flight. There is also a lot of gratitude mixed in there too for all of the amazing people that have helped us so much so thank you if you are one of those people!
Kenya After Christmas
Just as were about to break for Christmas, i am beging to see how close the trip is. As planning continues my excitment is increasing. I am so looking forward to the trip of a life time with the group:)
Packing!
So I have recently gotten many more of my supplies and it is now hitting me that I am actually going to Kenya! I am so pumped with all my new things and I can’t wait to use them!
Unbelievable
It’s incredible to look back and think about everyting I’ve been through with this group since the beginning, I can’t believe our year is almost up! We shared so much together and I’m looking very foward to traveling to Kenya in February!
Rudolph Can Play Reindeer Games!
Tonight was so much fun! I could feel the Christmas cheer all around the group while we sat down with excitement to play a very fun game. Many laughs around the table seemed to bond us even more! We learned so much about each other. I am so happy to be part of this group and I cant wait to climb the mountain with all of these responsible goofs
Time To Finally Relax! Ha Not
So it has been crunch time for fundraising the last few months and boy has it been stressful. But as of today a huge load has been taken off our shoulders, we only have under ten thousand dollars left to raise and then we will be in Kenya in just over a month. With such a small amount of money left to raise it is tempting to completely let off the gas but we need go harder than ever before. Almost there!
Almost there!
As many of you know, we have been fundraising tirelessly over the past year, and I am happy to announce that we are almost there! We want to thank everyone for their continuing support in helping us to get this far, and to get the remaining funds!
